Adaptive Backstepping Control of a 2-DOF Helicopter

This paper proposes an adaptive nonlinear controller for a 2-Degree of Freedom (DOF) helicopter. The proposed controller is designed using backstepping control technique and is used to track the pitch and yaw position references independently. A MIMO nonlinear mathematical model is derived for the 2DOF helicopter based on Euler-Lagrange equations, where the system parameters and the control coefficients are uncertain. Unlike some existing control schemes for the helicopter control, the developed controller does not require the knowledge on the system uncertain parameters. Decentralized Adaptive Control for Interconnected Nonlinear Systems with Input Quantization

Abstract In this paper, a decentralized adaptive control scheme is proposed for a class of uncertain nonlinear interconnected systems with input quantization. A hysteresis uniform quantization is introduced to reduce chattering. In the control design, a smooth function is introduced with backstepping technique to compensate for the effects of interactions. It is shown that the proposed decentralized adaptive controllers can ensure global boundedness of all the signals in the closed-loop interconnected systems and the tracking errors of subsystem converge to a residual, which can be adjusted by choosing suitable design parameters. Modeling of defects and surfaces in perovskite ferroelectrics

The results of electronic structure calculations for different terminations of SrTiO3 (100) and (110) perovskite thin films are discussed. These calculations are based on the ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) method and Density Functional Theory (DFT). Results are compared with previous ab initio plane-wave LDA and classical Shell Model (SM) calculations. Calculated considerable increase of the Ti – O chemical bond covalency nearby the surface is confirmed by experimental data. Our quantum chemical calculations performed by means of the intermediate neglect of differential overlap (INDO) method confirm the existence of self-trapped electrons in KNbO3, KTaO3 and BaTiO3 crystals. A robust aerial image registration method using Gaussian mixture models

Aerial image registration is one of the bases in many aerospace applications, such as aerial reconnaissance and aerial mapping. In this paper, we propose a novel aerial image registration algorithm which is based on Gaussian mixture models. First of all, considering the characters of the aerial images, the work uses a shape feature detector which computes the boundaries of regions with nearly the same gray-value to extract invariant feature. Then, a Gaussian mixture models (GMM) based image registration model is built and solved to estimate the transformation matrix between two aerial images. Distributed Consensus in Networks of Dynamic Agents

Stationary and distributed consensus protocols for a network of n dynamic agents under local information is considered. Consensus must be reached on a group decision value returned by a function of the agents' initial state values. As a main contribution we show that the agents can reach consensus if the value of such a function computed over the agents' state trajectories is time invariant. We use this basic result to introduce a protocol design rule allowing consensus on a quite general set of values.
